MOTION/FAMILY/MISCELLANEOUS CIVIL COURT
Motion/Family/Miscellaneous Civil Court is scheduled Monday through Friday. The judges in the Civil/Family Court Division rotate this assignment. Family and miscellaneous civil motions or petitions must be presented to the assigned judge, and if none, presented to the motion/miscellaneous judge. Counsel is required to give the opposing party five days notice of the presentation of any motion or petition, which shall include the date, time and courtroom. These matters are presented at 9:30 a.m. for all judges. Counsel should contact the Court Administration office to determine who will be sitting for Motion/Family/Miscellaneous Court.
In addition to motions and petitions the judges hold hearings on support issues, protection from abuse matters and miscellaneous civil matters. Hearings are scheduled by the Family Court Coordinator. Counsel should check with the Court Administrator's Office for available dates for scheduling hearings.
Any questions regarding procedures for filing of motions or petitions for cases assigned to a judge or cases handled in Miscellaneous Court, should be directed to the Court Administrator's Office.
