Judge Michele A. Varricchio
Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas

Judge Michele A. Varricchio is a Civil/Family Judge on the Court of Common Pleas of Lehigh County since 2008. She is currently the Administrative Judge of the Civil Division, and the Supervisory Judge of Arbitrations and Mortgage Foreclosures. Prior to this assignment, she was the Administrative Judge of the Family Division. She is a lifetime member of the National Association of Women Judges and the International Association of Women Judges. In 2009, she completed studies in General Jurisdiction, National Judicial College, Reno, Nevada.

Prior to her election to the Court of Common Pleas, Judge Varricchio was a Magisterial District Judge. Appointed by Governor Casey in 1992, and then elected in 1993, she served as Magisterial District Judge for fifteen years in the City of Allentown, as well as presiding over the Allentown Parking Court. During her term, she was also a member of the Special Court Judges Association from 1992-2007.

Judge Varricchio is a second-generation native of Allentown and a graduate of William Allen High School, Class of 1977. She earned a Bachelor of the Arts at St. John's College, Santa Fe, New Mexico, a program based upon the "Great Books." In 1985, she graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Antioch School of Law in Washington, D.C., and returned to Allentown where she was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable James N. Diefenderfer from 1985-1987. Thereafter, she and Frederick P. Rooney, Esquire formed a partnership, Rooney and Varricchio, during which time she was Solicitor for the Lehigh County Domestic Relations from 1988-1992.

Recently, Judge Varricchio was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lehigh Gap Nature Center, and she is a member of Lehigh Valley Audubon Society. She successfully completed the Pennsylvania Master Naturalist Program. In the past, she has served as a board member and officer of the Allentown YMCA/YWCA; and board member of 4-H, Community Bikeworks of Allentown, Human Services Advisory Board, and the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival at DeSales University. She is a past member of the Allentown Rotary Club and Lehigh Valley Arts Council.
