How do I make a support payment?
How do I view information about my support case?
How do I terminate or close my support case?
  • As the plaintiff, you have the right to close your support case at any time, provided you are not currently receiving cash assistance through the Department of Human Services (DHS). You may choose to cancel the back support or have it collected. If you cancel the back support, it cannot be reinstated or collected in the future. Complete a Request to Terminate Form and submit it with a copy of your photo identification.
How do I request a continuance/reschedule of a conference or hearing?
  • Submit an Application for Continuance by following all instructions on the application. The request must be based on an emergency, a documented medical restriction, or extenuating circumstance. Approval is at the discretion of the Director or designee, Hearing Officer, or Judge.
How do I request telephone participation for a conference or hearing?
  • Submit an Application for Telephone Conference/Hearing by following all instructions on the application, at least seven (7) days prior to the scheduled proceeding. The request must be based on travel distance, a documented medical restriction, or extenuating circumstance. Approval is at the discretion of the Director or designee, Hearing Officer, or Judge. An additional application must be submitted for each separate conference or hearing.
How long am I eligible to receive child support?
  • For a child support order that was established in Pennsylvania, child support ends when the child emancipates (turns 18-years old or graduates from high school, whichever occurs last). If back support is owed at the time of emancipation, it will continue to be collected.
How do I obtain payment from the defendant for unreimbursed medical expenses?
Does the Domestic Relations Section handle child custody/visitation?
  • No. Child support and custody/visitation are completely separate issues.
Does the Domestic Relations Section provide interpreters?
  • For a client who does not speak English, the DRS utilizes a telephone interpreting service during conferences, client visits, and telephone contact. For a hearing before a judge or hearing officer, arrangements are made for a court interpreter to appear to assist the client.
  • For a client who is hearing impaired and in need of an American Sign Language Interpreter, the client must complete a Client Request for Reasonable Accommodation Form and submit it to the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas' ADA Coordinator. If the request is granted, the request will cover all future appointments, conferences, and hearings.
  • All interpreting services are provided at no cost to the client.
