Protection From Abuse Violations
Family Court Division

Contempt of a PFA Order, known as an Indirect Criminal Contempt (ICC), can be filed two ways.

  1. The ICC is filed through the Police Department. If you feel the Defendant violated the PFA Order, you can contact the Police. The Police will either file the necessary paperwork and a hearing will be scheduled or they may direct you to the Family Court Office to file on your own.

  3. The Plaintiff can go to the Family Court Office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. and complete an Indirect Criminal Complaint. Family Court staff will take you and your Petition to appear before a Judge at either 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. and a hearing will then be scheduled.
