The Judge Donald E. Wieand Law Library provides a comprehensive collection of online and print legal resources. The Law Library is open to the public and is located in the Historic Lehigh County Courthouse. Law Library staff will provide directional reference assistance and basic instruction in the use of online legal databases to patrons unfamiliar with legal research. However, library staff cannot offer patrons any kind of legal opinion, legal aid, or legal advice. It is unauthorized practice of law for staff to explain legal materials, to offer advice on how the law might apply to their situation, or to offer instruction on how to proceed. It is the responsibility of the patron to read, interpret, and apply the legal material. If the patron desires more assistance than library staff is able to provide, he/she is advised to hire an attorney.
Public Access versions of Westlaw and Lexis are available in the Law Library.
Need to file a proposed or amended Municipal Ordinances in Lehigh County?
The Law Library is not the designated Lehigh County filing office for Municipal Ordinances. The Lehigh County Department of Law is responsible for the storage of proposed ordinances and amendments pursuant to Section 610(a) of the Municipalities Planning Code, 53 P.S. Section 10610(a) and the various other codes or charters which have the same type of requirements.
